Nikaia is the distributor in the USA of 2 striking lines of jewelry: Rosselini, a concept line from Germany and Nature Bijoux, a fashion forward French collection.
Nikaia's president, Nathalie Duncan, is a French native who moved to the United States in 1989. Aware that her Doctorate degree in Philosophy was not going to take her very far on this side of the Atlantic Ocean, she took a job with a key suppliers for The Sharper Image in San Francisco. Nathalie later joined the prestigious retail and mail order company to handle their international sales.
In 1999, while sourcing merchandise at a tradeshow in Frankfurt, Germany, she discovered and fell in love with the Coeur de Lion jewelry line. The collection, contemporary, simple and colorful, was "crisp" and "clean" like nothing else. Finding out that it was still unavailable in America, Nathalie met with designer Carola Hiersemann and husband/business partner Nils Eckrodt and agreed to import the line into the USA under the name of Rosselini (because of a trademark conflict).
Throughout the years, Nikaia introduced several new European lines to bring fresh looks into the US market. While many of them had some potential, none were truly able to fully respond to the highly demanding expectations of the US market. In 2007, Nathalie is introduced to Nature Bijoux, by Jean-Daniel Christin. From a creative standpoint, the fact that the collections are made of natural components is actually less important than the originality of the designs, their synergy with the trend set by the fashion industry. Seldom will you find such an attention to detail within such a variety of looks. A line of jewelry made of natural components, but sophisticate and easily wearable: that is truly a breakthrough in the current US jewelry market and an asset on which Nathalie could not pass. We aim at being more than just a supplier:
